The Supervisory Data Scientist will facilitate data analyses on NIH-supported research and will develop reporting and analytical tools across the award lifecycle for informed NIH decisions on policy development, program evaluation, and data dissemination.

According to the posting, the Supervisory Data Scientist will:

  • Supervise divisional staff of Data Scientists, Program Analysts, and IT Specialists.
  • Serve as a technical expert on the design, conduct, and interpretation of statistical analyses relating to topics under consideration.
  • Plan and implement quality control programs and select statistical methods for use in quality control analysis and ensures the reliability and consistency of the data while measuring the data limitations.
  • Identify inadequacies and inconsistencies in data; develops procedures and methodology to modify the data; and oversee data modifications.
  • Integrate data from multiple sources, including potentially disparate databases on grants, contracts, intramural projects, inter-agency agreements, and other transactions, to produce and disseminate data for downstream analysis and reporting.
  • Serve as a recognized authority in data science and lead the conceptual formulation, design, and implementation of data- and knowledge-driven methods that address the evolving needs of NIH.
