The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office within the Department of Commerce is searching for a Data Scientist, according to a job posting on USAJobs.gov.
This position, located in the USPTO’s Patent Planning & Data Analytics Office, serves as a Data Scientist for all phases of systems lifecycle including planning, management, development, and execution. The selected applicant will be responsible for achieving Patent business priorities in automation development.
According to the posting, duties for the Data Scientist include:
- Understands the high-level, technical and complex portfolio of data within the Patents organization.
- Works with cross-functional teams (e.g., leadership, executives, OHR, CFO, business analysts, and examiners), to translate Patents’ needs into data solutions to improve operations, support policy decisions, and enhance public services.
- Analyzes and evaluates data collection and statistical methodologies, and develops new or improves data collection methods. Identify actual or potential problem areas for study and resolution.
