Lindsey Saul

Dr. Lindsay Saul is the Chief Data Officer of the U.S. Government Accountability Office.

As the GAO’s CDO, Saul oversees data strategy and analytics initiatives. Saul drives the GAO’s mission to provide reliable information and insights to Congress, thereby enhancing governmental accountability and transparency. In a Sept. 2023 report to Congress, GAO stated that its CDO would “develop and implement best in class data strategy, management, and governance in pursuit of digital innovation, reduced costs, improved timeliness, and ultimately more opportunities for cost savings.”

Saul was previously the Chief Data and Analytics Officer at the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) within the U.S. Department of Defense and head of the DLA’s Analytics Center of Excellence (ACE). She also served as DLA’s Lead Analytics Strategist for Strategic Data & Analysis. Prior, she worked as Branch Chief for Data & Analysis in the Non-Medical Counseling Program Office at the Department of Defense.

Saul earned a Bachelor degree in psychology at Duke University; a Master’s in Forensic Studies at Florida Gulf Coast University; and a PhD in Social and Behavioral Health at Virginia Commonwealth University.  She completed the CDataO Executive Education Certificate at Carnegie Mellon University.
