Michael Weissman

Chief Data Officer

Department of Homeland Security

Michael Weissman was named the Chief Data Officer (CDO) for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in May 2024, after serving as the Senior Leader of HR Information Technology and a Digital Services Expert for the department.  Weissman leads data initiatives and leverages data to drive informed decision-making at DHS. With a background in big data analytics and innovative software solutions, he will lead the DHS data team to develop and implement data strategies that improve the department’s operational efficiency and effectiveness.

He previously was a Digital Services Expert for the U.S. Digital Service. In his private sector career, he was Associate Director and Managing Consultant with Navigant (acquired by Guidehouse). He began his career as a senior software developer for Macmillan and then Rivers Consulting/ActiveIntellect.

Weissman earned his BS degree from New York University.
