DHS Taps Garth White as new Deputy CDO

Garth White, a long-serving senior IT leader with the Department of Homeland Security, has been named the new Deputy Chief Data Officer at the department.  Garth previously served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Information Security Officer for DHS, as well as the IT Engineering Branch Chief for the DHS Science and Technology Directorate.  Before entering government service, he worked in the government contracting industry with Steampunk, Enterra Solutions, and ManTech.

According to his LinkedIn profile, he is recognized for his ability to develop policies, plans, and strategies in compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and standards in support of organizational information technology activities. He relates strategy, business, and technology to the department’s mission and uses his in-depth knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and ethics related to IT, Cybersecurity, and privacy to develop transformative products that protect the homeland from cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
