DoD Chief Digital and AI Officer Announces New Leadership Hires

The DoD Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) announced new leadership hires to accelerate the DoD’s adoption of data, analytics, and AI. The new leadership team, announced by CDAO Dr. Radha Plumb, includes experts with experience in technical excellence across the joint force and interagency. The CDAO, operational since June 2022, aims to integrate AI capabilities across the DoD, focusing on scalable AI-driven solutions for defense and safeguarding against threats.

The newly announced hires include:

  • Garrett Berntsen: Appointed as DCDAO for Mission Analytics, he brings experience from the State Department and NSC, focusing on analytics to support warfighting and business functions.
  • Eugene Kuznetsov: As DCDAO for Enterprise Platforms and Services, his background from Naval Special Warfare will enhance data infrastructure and AI support for warfighter needs.
  • Jock Padgett: Joining as DCDAO for Advanced C2 Acceleration, Padgett’s expertise from U.S. Army XVIII Airborne Corps will advance C2 capabilities and address mission needs.
  • Christopher Skaluba: The new Executive Director, with his experience from the Atlantic Council and DoD, will contribute strategic thinking and coalition building to the team.
