Federal CDO Council Publishes Paper on Measuring OCDO Value
The Federal CDO Council has published a new paper titled “An Approach to Measuring Chief Data Officer Value and Impact” that offers advice to federal data leaders on how to measure and communicate the value of their efforts to harness data to drive organizational success. The paper looks at lessons learned in program measurement from non-data domains such as asset management, inventory management, manufacturing, and customer experience.
The report’s intro states: “By learning from the experiences of other domains and adopting a nuanced approach to metrics, CDOs can pave the way for a clearer understanding of the impact and value of their vital contributions to the data-driven future.”
Other organizations like the EDM Council’s Data ROI Workgroup also offer guidance through a series of papers about how to measure and communicate the value of enterprise data programs.
