The Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) in the Department of Veterans Affairs is searching for a Data Scientist, according to a job posting on USAJobs.gov.
This position is located in the VBA Office of Performance Analysis and Integrity (PA&I), organizationally aligned under the VBA Chief of Staff. The Evaluation Analysis team’s mission is to elevate VBA’s evidence-based decision-making via analytical insights, capacity building, transparency, collaboration, and best practices.
According to the posting, duties for the Data Scientist include:
- Lead and conduct evaluation-driven statistical analyses such as mixed effects, inferential statistics, instrumental variable analyses, and regression discontinuity.
- Work in established data science tools such as Toad, Python, Tableau, and cloud analytics platforms.
- Co-author reports that communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences, findings from one or more quantitative and/or qualitative evaluation and/or research studies.
- Evaluate models and findings of other VBA analysts and contractors in area of incumbent’s specialization and provide detailed feedback to analysts and supervisors.
- Monitor, track, and communicate changes and developments in evaluation research, methods, and technology.
