Chris Rottler

Chris Rottler is the Chief Data Officer and Chief AI Officer for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS).

Rottler has served in a number of data analytic roles in both the public and private sectors. Prior to his current role at FNS, he served in data and analytic roles for the Department of State and Peace Corps, where he developed analytic programs and was responsible for managing special projects related to advanced analytics, data mining, data visualization, and other activities.

In the private sector, he worked as a Vice President of Data Analytics at Weber Shandwick, where he established the firm’s advanced analytic capabilities, and has also held roles at Booz Allen Hamilton and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Center for Communication Programs, working with USAID, CDC, Social Security, and various NGOs. Mr. Rottler began his career as a freelance reporter for the Associated Press and a Staff Writer for the Kaiser Family Foundation’s daily health reporting.

He holds a M.S. in Business Analytics from New York University Stern School of Business, a M.A. in Communications from Johns Hopkins University, and a B.A. in Law and Society from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
