Michelle Zebrowski

Michelle Zebrowski serves as the Chief Data Officer at DHS Customs and Border Protection, within the Office of Information Technology. She was named to the position in March 2023.

According to Zebrowski’s LinkedIn profile, she has worked at CBP since 2011, previously serving as Branch Chief for Data Integration and Management, Branch Chief of the Advanced Trade Analytics Platform, and as an Operations and Maintenance Lead.  She previously worked in the private sector as a consultant for Accenture and PwC, and as a financial analyst at IBM.

According to CBP’s 2022 job posting for the CDO role, duties for this position include:

• Developing and assigning data-related roles and responsibilities, promoting employee development in data access and analysis, and establishing and executing a Strategic Data Plan.
• Governing enterprise data assets and inventory to ensure data is available, reliable, consistent, accessible, secure, and timely to support the mission and activities of DHS.
  Implementing the statutory and regulatory requirements related to information resources management and the collection and release of information across DHS, including the Information Quality Act (Pub. L. 106-554) and the Paperwork Reduction Act’s (Pub. L. 96-511) required coordination and certification.
• Leading the Information Technology records management program to maintain modernization of records management practices, translation of records management requirements into business processes, and management of records management risk in compliance with the Federal Records Act (Pub. L. 81-754), the Presidential and Federal Records Act Amendments of 2014 (Pub. L. 113-187).
