Scott McKeithen

Maj. Scott McKeithen is the Chief Health Data & Analytics Officer at the DoD’s Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office, a role he has held since 2022. Collaborating with CDAO leadership, McKeithen works to accelerate DoD’s adoption of data analytics and AI in healthcare. He oversees all data products in the People & Health Analytics community space on the Advana enterprise data and analytics platform.

McKeithen was previously assigned to the DoD Join Artificial Intelligence Center in 2020 as the first Artificial Intelligence Fellow sponsored by the Air Force Surgeon General. As a Product Manager, he was assigned to lead the COVID Task Force, Total Force Fitness, and DoD Health Analytics efforts under Business Analytics to apply his skills to enhance readiness and advance AI products in combat medicine, medical readiness, and human performance. After he was commissioned as a Healthcare Administrator in 2011, McKeithen served in various US Air Force healthcare administration roles for nearly nine years, including VP & COO of Tricare Operations & Patient Administration at Eglin AFB; Senior Group Practice Manager overseeing more than 45 clinics and 600 physicians; Chief Information Officer at Eglin AFB; and Director of Operations for the military health facility in Columbus, MS.

McKeithen began his career as an enlisted F-16 Avionics Apprentice in 2003. He later served in the Mississippi Air National Guard as a Senior Healthcare Management Specialist, where he managed Medical Evaluation Boards and Line of Duty determinations for all military personnel. He then served as Epic Team Manager for Optime/Anesthesia, first at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and the for Catholic Health Initiatives in Tacoma, WA.

McKeithen earned his BS in Health Care Administration/Management from South University and his Master’s degree in Health Science – Informatics from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He is a CPHIMS (Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems) Fellow.
