Daniel Rogers

Captain Daniel Rogers is the U.S. Coast Guard’s second Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Officer (CDAO). In this role as head of the USCG Office of Data & Analytics (ODA), CAPT Rogers is focused on enabling advancements in data management, integration, and AI to ensure safer, more efficient operations across the Coast Guard. He is also working to manage the risks of AI while expanding the use of data within the agency.

CAPT Rogers has served in the UCCG for more than 24 years, most recently served as the Commanding Officer of Base New Orleans. He reported to this role after four years as Executive Officer of Base Kodiak, AK, where he provided mission support to the Seventeenth District and the Last Frontier. He also previously served as a Chief of Logistics and CO, Military Personnel for Sector Boston; program analyst for the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Military Campaign Office; program manager for the Coast Guard Industrial Program, and other roles.

While serving in the Coast Guard, CAPT Rogers has also served as an Associate Professor at Liberty University, teaching courses in strategy, operations, and enterprise risk management. He was briefly detailed to the Department of Homeland Security’s Joint Requirements Council.

CAPT Rogers graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering. He holds a Master of Science in Industrial Administration from Purdue University and a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership from Regent University. He is also a licensed professional engineer.
