Thomas Beach

Thomas (Tod) Beach was named the Associate Director of Data Governance at the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), where he leads the Enterprise Master Data Management (eMDM) program. He has led an integrated product team to evaluate existing FDA data collection and management processes. His team has also begun developing the agency’s first cloud-based eMDM platform, as well as related aspects of data governance, stewardship, extract/transform/load interfaces, quality standards, and metrics.

Prior to the FDA, Tod served as the Interim Chief Data Officer (CDO) at the U.S. Department of Commerce. He previously was Chief Data Strategist and Portfolio Manager of Digital Services & Big Data at the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and served for many years in the public and private sectors as expert on patents and intellectual property issues.
